Well today my job is a little bit different. To make a long story short I got tired of all that traveling so I went up to Alaska to try and get a job as a Sports announcer on local TV.

          That job didn't go anywhere but I was still looking for a  job in the media when the nice folks at Underground gave me a job again, but this time as a news commentator.  I ask you to check back to this page on a regular basis as this is where all the latest Underground news will be posted.

NEW SPRING PHONE HOURS - Thank goodness we're back on daylight savings time! It seems like the end of hibernation. Our official phone hours are now 8am -4 pm Pacific daylight savings time. You can also often get ahold of Lon out side the "official" hours as he usually forwards his main line to his cell phone at the end of the day.

PISTONS - Right now most of us are aware of the forged piston situation. Federal Mogul has no forged pistons in stock and is unsure when they will have them again. It's not the end of the world for most of us.

   Remember that ALL Corvairs came from the factory with cast pistons - even the 140's and the turbos. And, unless terribly abused, those pistons lasted for tens of thousands of miles.

   Over the years we've been sort of conditioned to beleive that forged pistons are an important upgrade in most Corvair engines. But the truth is they're overkill in most applications.

   Right now we still have three different sources for cast pistons for both earlies and lates. And unless you're building a severe use (racings etc) engine cast pistons are more than adequate.

THE FINAL LEG IN DALE FLYWHEELS - Our line of our new GoVair-Dale flywheels has reached it's final hurdle. At first when we aquired the Dale flywheel line we had decided not to do the heat treatment process that Dale used on the second half of his flywheels. 

Dave Langsather assured us that it was mostly a cosmetic operation. Well, after doing about 30 Dale style flywheels we have decided to purchase a kiln. And, as soon this news goes out Lon is heading over to Daves to pick up all the heat treating equipment and supplies.

In for a penny in for a pound. What the heck - we're carrying on the fine Dale tradition so may as well do it 100%! Those fine flywheels are here

What's new? That should be obvious this time around! With a new online website Homepage that has updated and additional links it's now easier (we hope) to find out what you need to know. Of course we checked all the links to make sure they work - BUT - if you find anything that doesn't work or is simply wrong please let us know!

It's been a while since I had the time to write. With Christmas just 2 days away and the end of the year about a week and a half I'm going to try and get one more news blurb in.

FLYWHEELS AND DISTRIBUTORS - Over the past 2 weeks we have been more than blessed with the opportunity to acquire all of the cores, tooling, fixtures and rights to the legendary line of Dale Manufacturing bolted flywheels and distributors. Back at the beginning of this year when owner Dave Langsather announced that he was suspending all but his rebuilt harmonic balancer line there was a scramble in the market to offer something that would fill the bill. Of course none of us expected that we could duplicate Dave's nearly perfect line of products.

That all changed with a call from Dave a couple of weeks ago. Would I be willing to carry on the tradition? I didn't hesitate. With training from Dave and his fixtures, tooling and techniques, I can now tell you that we have brought back the Dale flywheels and rebuilt distributors (Yes, recurved distributors are not far off either)

We will have these products when you want them. They will be marketed as GoVair-Dale products. We have already sent out the first 2 GoVair-Dale flywheels (an early and a late) and will be building the first GoVair-Dale distributor tomorrow.

Your support over the past 37 years has made all this possible. Although the past few years have been very challenging and we have had to radically change the way we do a lot of things we are still here and we're going to hold on and continue to do our best to keep getting you the Corvair parts and services you need.

It's that time of year where Winter seems to be just around the corner. Fortunately our new distributor for early model fuzzy material has come through with a large shipment so early fuzzies are again back in stock! Check this link to get the special sale info.

We are getting quotes for the next batch of our famous Robson spring idlers. We have most replacement parts in stock but no more complete units.

When we go off daylight savings time November 7th we'll change our phone hours for winter. Not sure what they will be yet but we'll let you know!  As the years go on we find that the phone hours seem to be less and less important as now over 75% of our orders come in through our website, which is available 24/7. Some days we can get by with getting less than a handful of calls - most of which are requests for technical information.

Only a little over a week until election day and hopefully a lot of you will quit sending every extra cent you have to political organizations. We always see a drop in sales up to several months before an election but this has been easily the worst!

We're running a lot of good specials that will be up soon. Take advantage of these specials now before time and quantities run out!

Fall is here and we just had a great time at Corsa Oregon's annual Corvair College last Saturday. About 25 Corvairs were present with about twice that many people. Good food and good tech sessions! Thanks to Steve and Gloria Brown for being this years hosts!

OUT OF SPRING IDLERS? Pretty much. I have about half a dozen misc left over parts and might be able to put one or two together. In the meantime we're getting quotes for parts.

It's been a lean last couple of months. We always see a bad drop in sales several months prior to a major national election. But Corvair parts vendors have to eat too!  We're going to try and promote more sales this month to try and offset the unavoidable "election drop". Or how about, Vote for Corvair Underground!

OUR PRINT CATALOG? Yes, despite the fact that's it's way late we're still working on it. If you've requested one we still have your name and address in line ready.

REBUILT ENGINES - We have decided to offer them once again on a limited basis. Fall/Winter seems to be the time that folks want to get this done. Schedule yours in now before we un out of time slots. Check here for info.

From the oooops department - We announced at the beginning of the year that we would no longer be manufacturing fuzzies, yet the demand for them is still amazingly strong. Well, I have at least temporarily changed my mind - and we're cranking out the fuzzies again! Prices are only slightly up from last year as follows -
