HI OUTPUT ALTERNATORS

 ALTERNATOR CONVERSION KITS

We've been remanufacturing stock and hi-output alternators for over 35 years.

But about 10 years ago an interesting thing started to happen in the Pacific Northwest (and elsewhere, I suspect).

The 10si alternator cores we were using to do our alternators suddenly dried up. Why? Because some large core buyers came on the scene and started to buy up everything in sight. Of course we could buy the cores from the buyers, but they had gotten quite expensive.

Well, we did what we always do - We sharpened our pencils and looked for a way to deal with the situation. As it turned out we discovered that we could buy all new components and come out about the same. The only used parts in our alternators are the Corvair pulley and the Corvair drive-end frame.

The picture you see above to the left are all the major new parts that go into one of our hi-output alternators. Unlike virtually every other electrical component rebuilder we will not re-use bearings, brushes, regulators and other parts - even if they look new. When you buy a rebuilt hi-output alternator from the Underground you are buying as close to an all-new unit as you can.

Hi-Output 65 amp ALTERNATOR  (As seen to the above right)    Can be used on all years and models of Corvairs

Conversion wiring kit - Simple to install with instructions - 65-69 All    $9.95

BUT - If you use it on 1960-64 models to replace the factory generator (A WISE idea) then you will also need to change a few things.

Fortunately we have conversion kits too.
